FIRST FLOOR
PAGE 2

The first floor focal point is the grand stairway. On this floor is the main dining room, bar and kitchen. In the warmer months there is access to sidewalk seating through a series of doors along the storefront.

The storefront just after framing. It sits on a new footer thats top will serve as finish elevation for a lightweight concrete floor to be poured on the first floor.

Looking towards the rear of the building, steel beams held with rivets give an idea of its turn of the century age. The vertical shaft just behind the stairs, held the elevator that worked by pulling a looped rope either up or down to lift or decend and it was up to you to plumb the lift with the floor.

This same view with the staircase installed.

Looking from the rear of the building just after installation of the stairs. To be located under the intermediate stair landing the coat-check and entrance to the bar.

The stairs were brought into place prefabricated and bolted together on site. Here are the two guys that put it all together. I could never figure out how the guy to the right kept his pants white.

Almost the same spot a month later.

Standing to the left of the last frame, the door opening where the workman is standing is the entrance to the coat-check and the bar. Just to the left of the opening is a nich for a computer stand and left of that a wait station that you can see better in the next frame.

On the right is a wait station, the door in the back is double swing access to the kitchen, and on the left are located the men's and women's room. The photo dates itself because no one would install pay-phones any longer.

The first floor kitchen cook-line. All the prep was done in the basement kitchen and brought up by elevator This line expedited the meals. This is the guy who sold and installed the equipment. I think he is pretty proud of how it came out, but he wouldn't pull the plastic for me. Maybe that's a sneer.
