BASEMENT PAGE 1 The basement contains the prep-kitchen, bakery, dry storage, beer, dishwashing, employee lockers and offices.
This is what I had to deal with, dug by hand, the line along the wall marks the amount of muck (12") that I had to dig from the basement. There was so much water seepage that it had destroyed the support beams.
This is the same corner. It is part of the bakery.
After the dirt was removed, a drainage and tile system was laid leading to a sump, followed by pea gravel and then a poured floor. The horizontal beams, one of which you can see along the top of the photo, could then be supported and the verticals cut out and replaced. What you see here is the hood for the prep-kitchen.
The prep-kitchen just after dry wall. In the background behind the wall is the dishwashing area.
The prep-kitchen in action.
This is your first good look at the elevator. We are still using the old one in this photo. Straight back is the dishwashing area and in the background, behind the wall that extends from the corner is the prep-kitchen.
The room finished and the new elevator installed. The new elevator is a hydraulic lift type that replaced one based on a cable system. I had to dig a pit under this to hold the piston. That was terrible work. Everything came out one bucket at at time.
